Rhythmwave[]
Rhythmwave is an expansion upon a basic Vaporwave and Tiki/Tropical foundation, with some variation through the lens of City Pop and Coconut Girl respectively. The scenery--being a rose-tinted fusion of cherry blossoms and Hawaiian flora and palm trees--, insists of dreamy, VHS like captures of the beach, typically during sunset or late dusk hours for natural exteriors, with clouds eternally stained pink accompanied by a rosy rainbow or two.
Day/Night Shades[]

"dreamy..."
Day/Sunset[]
The sun is usually always prevalent in such scenes, usually also donning such a innocent shade, like that of a flustered love-bird. It symbolizes the safety and joy a young child may associate with the sea-sweet star. It also has the power to pass off its rosy radiance onto other objects, quite literally giving them a rose-tinted glasses quality, almost as if your half asleep.
Night/Early Morning[]

"dazzling diamonds!"
At night and until early mornings, however, (while the beach is sleeping,) the focus turns to the static, synthetically, starry skyline of the city, with any flora being tucked away. There's plenty of ads and screens everywhere, advertising stuff you'd probably think was a dream. Nature is rarely seen here as the only representation it has are moonlit rows of flowers with petals as pure as the moon. While the aesthetic as a whole has partial focus on astronomy, it is more prevalent here. This side of rhythmwave is similar to that feeling of waking up early and feeling somewhat guilty about it. While daytime is focused on the natural and safe side of the world, the blue, hopeful sky is meant to be comforting to wash away your worries. Think of the Sun as "What U Need" and the moon as what you want.
Technology[]
All technology consists of outdated Y2k technology, only bearing any merit for its charm rather than its functionality. This consists of weird antennae like headphones, CRT tvs, record players, classic cube computers, and most importantly lava lamps. UI are heavily based on 80's station idents, such as this classic HBO frame.
Media[]
All media is associated with beauty, joy, food, and the glamour of life. Most of it is in Japanese, also being influenced by their trends of the late 80's-90's. Also showing off that style of vintage screens, it's easy to get stuck staring at it. The world is full of fun advertising, meant to look desirable and not just consumable. It's glamorous and almost superficial, but still enjoyable nonetheless.
Interiors/Furniture[]
Furniture usually consists of that groovy, vintage futurism aesthetic mixed with some Hawaiian influence. Furniture can also consist of objects built to replicate others, like this table, meant to look like a record or this lava lamp U.F.O.. On the topic of lava lamps, they are very prevalent throughout households, being replicated, transformed, and redesigned however imaginable, like this lava tube, or this lava showcase.
Signature Animal[]
Sea urchin, are a common denominator in the beauty of the aesthetic, being simple yet compelling. They also just happen to be 8-Beat's favorite animal, although some other sea creatures, such as jellyfish, sunfish and mantis shrimp are acceptable.
Symbolism[]
Hard to love, but soft when you see their insides.

"so silly!"
Origins[]
This started as the nostalgia of what I grew up with, my 3Ds with Pokemon Sun, where a good part of the Hawaiian influence come from. It has since then branched out into mixing everyone's nostalgia together, meant to harmonize the generations by their childhoods, defying the natural barrier there.
Astrology[]
With Hawaii boasting some of the most beautiful starry skies you'll ever see, it was naturally incorporated into the aesthetic, and plays a good part in the night time scenery. Bright, tritone stars (being pink, yellow, and white,) are associated with the beauty of women, and moonlight accompanying pale white flower fields just makes for a dazzling sight, wouldn't you agree?
